This singles yarn is next to skin soft, slightly fuzzy and has a beautiful pearly luster due to the fineness of the mohair used. The mohair is not brushed but the singles construction allows the mohair fibers to bloom and form a delicate halo around the strand. It knits up into warm and lightweight items. Although technically a fingering weight yarn, you can also treat it like a thicker sport weight yarn, and knit on larger needles. This allows the mohair fibers more room to bloom and reach their full fuzzy potential. It is delightful worked up into lightweight shawls, cardigans, hats and cowls.
This yarn is extremely soft because of the extrafine merino and superkid mohair used. The softness of mohair is the main determining factor of its quality. Superkid mohair is from the first shearing and these are the softest and finest fibres the mohair goats will ever produce. The second shearing is usually called kid mohair and is still of fine quality, but is not as soft as superkid mohair.
